The Maryang Nolto Seafood Market in Gangjin will hold its final event of the year on October 31, offering visitors a chance to enjoy the local sea and fresh seafood.

The Gangjin County government announced that the closing event will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on October 31 at the Maryang Nolto Seafood Market.

Organized by the Maryang Nolto Seafood Market Merchants Association, the event aims to express gratitude to the tourists and local residents who visited the market throughout the year, transforming the final market day into a festival of food, performances, and experiences.

The program will include a singing contest for tourists, a sashimi demonstration, a receipt event, a satisfaction survey, and a Saturday concert, allowing visitors to actively participate.

A singing contest will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., featuring participation from both tourists and local residents.

Following that, a sashimi demonstration will be held from 3:30 p.m. for 30 minutes, showcasing the preparation of seasonal fish. After the demonstration, sashimi will be sold on-site for 5,000 won per serving on a first-come, first-served basis.

To encourage local commerce, an event will be held where visitors who spend over 10,000 won at the market between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. can present their receipts to participate in a bracelet-making experience at the observation deck café.

A satisfaction survey will also be conducted to gather feedback from market users for future operations. An online survey using Naver Forms will be conducted alongside on-site questionnaires, with participants receiving souvenirs such as keychains and umbrellas. Feedback will be collected on the market environment, the quality and price of seafood and food, merchant services, and performance and experience programs, which will be used to improve future market operations and services.

The final Saturday concert of the year will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., featuring singer Kang Min-joo and four other performers to conclude the closing event.

The Maryang Nolto Seafood Market has been operating by combining fresh seafood and local food with tourist participation programs and performances.

As of October 10, the market has recorded approximately 47,000 visitors and total sales of about 270 million won this year.

Wi Jin-hee, head of the Gangjin County Fisheries Division, stated, “We hope this closing event will express our gratitude to those who visited the Maryang Nolto Seafood Market throughout the year and create enjoyable memories for visitors. We ask for your interest and participation in this event where you can enjoy food, performances, and experiences alongside the beautiful sea of Maryang.”

Meanwhile, on its final operating day, October 31, the Maryang Nolto Seafood Market will continue to offer seafood sales and food, along with performances and experiences. Gangjin County plans to use the results of the satisfaction survey collected during the closing event as foundational data for future market operations and service improvements.
