Hanwha General Insurance has introduced a maternity-specific insurance product that covers diseases occurring during pregnancy and childbirth, as well as postpartum mental health issues.

On October 19, Hanwha announced the launch of its digital-only product, 'Hanwha Direct Maternity Insurance Non-Dividend.'

Unlike existing insurance products that primarily focus on the risks to the fetus and child, this new offering emphasizes the health of the mother. It is designed to address various risks that may arise from pregnancy through to the return to daily life after childbirth, considering societal changes such as the increase in older mothers.

Key coverage items include diagnosis benefits for preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, placental abruption, surgical and hospitalization costs for pregnancy and childbirth-related diseases, and diagnosis benefits for amniotic fluid embolism.

The policy also covers emotional and psychological risks that may arise during the parenting process. It supports mothers' recovery after childbirth through benefits for specific stress-related mental disorders and assistance for certain sleep tests.

The insurance period lasts up to three years, with premiums paid in a lump sum. It is available for women aged 20 to 42. Enrollment can be completed through the Hanwha Direct website and the Carrot app.

A Hanwha representative stated, "We have deeply researched women's lifestyles and the risks associated with different stages of life, continuously providing coverage tailored for women. We will continue to lead women's wellness with differentiated products and services that carefully ensure healthy lives for women."
