Fifteen companies transitioning their business structures to new industries such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), and eco-friendly ships are seeking investment. The government plans to support these companies, which have received approval for business restructuring, by facilitating investor presentations and enhancing connections with private investors.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, in collaboration with the Korea Productivity Center, held an investment attraction briefing for approved restructuring companies on October 21 at the Seonghong Tower in Seoul.
Business restructuring is a system that allows companies to reorganize their existing business structures to enter new industries or strengthen competitiveness. The government is providing consulting and briefing support to help approved companies secure the necessary investment funds for their new ventures.
Fifteen companies that received investment attraction consulting from the ministry participated in the briefing. These companies will present their new business strategies, technological competitiveness, and market entry plans to specialized investors.
The briefing will take place in two sessions. In the first session on October 21, seven companies will present, while the remaining eight companies will seek investment in the second session on October 28.
The government expects around 100 investment firms to participate in these two events.
The participating companies span various sectors, including semiconductor equipment, AI data centers, medical and welfare robots, and eco-friendly ships. Daewon FNC has developed semiconductor wafer transfer equipment using ceramic materials. They plan to introduce technology that eliminates static electricity generated during the semiconductor production process to enhance yield rates.
Nine Labs will showcase a liquid cooling solution for AI data centers, aiming to reduce power consumption. Robolife has developed a lightweight mobility assistance robot that can be attached to existing manual wheelchairs, planning to lower costs through simplified components to expand robot distribution.
Companies in the eco-friendly sector are also participating. Sebotech has localized rotor sails, a wind propulsion auxiliary device that reduces fuel consumption for ships, aiming to enhance price competitiveness compared to products from Japan and Europe for overseas market entry.
Mcase Steel has developed AI-based equipment that automatically inspects foreign substances on the surface of steel materials, intending to improve productivity and workplace safety for small and medium-sized steel manufacturers. Hyojin E&H is targeting the eco-friendly equipment market with technology that converts greenhouse gases like methane and carbon dioxide into hydrogen and methanol.
Since last year, the ministry has been actively promoting investment attraction support for approved restructuring companies. This year, 15 companies that received consulting have presented in two sessions, expanding the connection between restructuring companies and private investors.
The government plans to strengthen support for private investment attraction, recognizing that securing funding is a critical challenge during the actual business transition process following restructuring approval. Participating companies will explain the business viability and growth potential of their new ventures through individual presentations and Q&A sessions, as well as conduct one-on-one consultations with investors.
Nam Myung-woo, Director of Industrial Policy at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, stated, "This briefing provides a valuable opportunity for restructuring companies aiming for a rebound to showcase their achievements to investors, igniting the potential for growth. Successful business restructuring is essential for improving corporate health and competitiveness, so we will enhance consulting and support for restructuring while broadening the connections between companies and investors."
