HD Hyundai Robotics has unveiled its self-developed 'intelligent dual-arm robot' at the 'Future Innovation Technology Expo 2026' (FIX 2026) held at EXCO in Daegu.

The intelligent dual-arm robot features a structure similar to the human upper body, including two arms and five fingers, based on physical AI technology. The design prioritizes precision task capabilities using its arms and hands, optimized for frontline manufacturing environments.

The newly introduced robot has arms capable of handling a payload of 7 kg each and a working radius of 630 mm. It also incorporates a five-finger structure similar to a human hand, enabling it to perform delicate tasks akin to a person grasping and moving objects.

Through collaboration with Aiden Robotics, in which it invested in September, HD Hyundai Robotics has enhanced the robot's ability to detect objects with advanced force and tactile sensor technology. The company plans to continue upgrading the performance of the robot's arms and hands.

The mobility capabilities of the intelligent dual-arm robot will also be gradually expanded. Initially, it will be equipped with a wheeled mobility platform, with plans to develop bipedal walking technology in the future.

Notably, the intelligent dual-arm robot is equipped with a proprietary robot foundation model developed by HD Hyundai Robotics, allowing it to recognize its surroundings and autonomously generate actions suited to various situations. This feature enables operators to avoid programming specific tasks and locations, allowing for flexible responses to diverse work environments.

HD Hyundai Robotics plans to first apply the intelligent dual-arm robot in assembly and bundling processes, with plans to expand its application to welding, painting, and other manufacturing sectors. The company aims to leverage the operational intelligence gained from this robot to enhance automation in existing industrial and collaborative robot product lines.

An official from HD Hyundai Robotics stated, "The development of the intelligent dual-arm robot marks a significant starting point for integrating physical AI technology into industrial settings and expanding the scope of robotic applications. We will strive to lead in physical AI robot technology based on our accumulated design, control, and mass production expertise in the industrial robot market."

In July, HD Hyundai Robotics launched three models of the HDC series, a high-load collaborative robot utilizing physical AI technology. The company is expanding the application of its robots across various manufacturing sectors, including automotive, battery, and logistics.
