LG Uplus is collaborating with the Ministry of Education and cybersecurity firm Tiori Korea to nurture young cybersecurity talent. The three organizations signed a memorandum of understanding to support the operation of an AI and information security gifted education center, aiming to establish a practical security education environment that includes curriculum development, competitions, and career experiences.

On October 31, LG Uplus announced that it had signed the memorandum at LG Science Park in Gangseo-gu, Seoul.

The AI and information security gifted education center is designed to identify and cultivate outstanding talent in the field of information security among middle and high school students nationwide. The three organizations will collaborate on developing and operating a comprehensive information security curriculum, hosting practical information security competitions, and providing special lectures and career experience programs by industry experts.

Each organization has specific roles in this initiative. LG Uplus will leverage its expertise and infrastructure in telecommunications, AI, and information security to enhance the educational experience. Tiori Korea will support practical security education based on its experience operating the security education platform Dreamhack, while the Ministry of Education will oversee the operation and enhancement of the gifted education center.

This collaborative direction was further solidified during the 12th AI and Information Security Gifted Education Center Cybersecurity Competition held on the same day at LG Uplus's Magok headquarters. Forty-eight students selected from gifted education centers across four regions of the country formed teams to solve security problems, applying the knowledge they gained during the educational program to real-world challenges and competing in technical skills and teamwork.

LG Uplus provided the competition space and the necessary network and AI practical infrastructure to simulate real security environments for the students. Tiori Korea was responsible for problem creation, technical support, and evaluation. Outstanding teams received awards, including the Minister of Education's Award (Grand Prize) and the LG Uplus Award (Excellence Award).

Hong Kwan-hee, Chief Information Security Officer and Chief Privacy Officer at LG Uplus, stated, “As AI technology rapidly spreads, the importance of cybersecurity talent capable of safely utilizing and protecting this technology is increasing. We will actively utilize LG Uplus's expertise in information security and our network and AI infrastructure to support students in becoming skilled security professionals.”

With this agreement, LG Uplus plans to expand its support not only for the competition but also for the overall educational programs of the gifted education center.
