Changwon's Sapa Health Support Center successfully concluded the "Together for Health Sharing Festival" on November 4, inviting 80 vulnerable residents from the community.

The event, themed "Welcome, Have You Been to the Health Support Center Before?" aimed to provide practical health management services and lifestyle opportunities to local residents who have limited experience visiting the center.

Notably, this festival marked a shift from traditional administrative-led approaches, as members of five community health clubs took on the roles of instructors and guides, presenting a resident-led health welfare model.

On-site, the health club members operated five vibrant experience booths based on prior training. Participants formed small groups to rotate through the booths, gaining various health management insights.

Key programs included a 10-minute strength training booth that taught fall prevention stretches and basic strength exercises, and a low-sodium dipping sauce booth that demonstrated healthy cooking methods to reduce sodium intake while enhancing flavor.

Additionally, booths for creating health bracelets to aid fine motor skills and emotional stability, as well as a taste test booth for checking nutrition labels and improving dietary habits, were also featured.

Elderly participants actively engaged in the experiences with the friendly guidance of club members and received safe transportation support through welfare center vehicles.
Collaboration with Welfare Agencies to Identify Underserved Residents...Ongoing Monitoring via App

The Sapa Health Support Center, responsible for the health of over 240,000 residents in the Seongsan District, is now in its third year and has partnered with local welfare agencies to identify underserved residents beyond its usual clientele. Through prior agreements, the center invited 80 health-vulnerable residents who were visiting for the first time.

After the activities, participants received free health measurements for blood pressure, body composition, stress, and obesity at the center's health measurement zone, followed by one-on-one tailored consultations.

The center plans to link the measurement data of newly registered participants to the smart health management app, Biogram, for ongoing monitoring.

Based on the monitoring results, participants will be classified into high-risk and normal groups for continuous management by designated officials, who will also provide regular personalized exercise and nutrition video content along with health information alerts.

Lee Seung-min, head of the Health Promotion and Support Team at Changwon Health Center, stated, "We collaborated with local social welfare agencies to safely bring in neighbors who have not utilized the center before, including those with mobility challenges. Seeing club members prepare booths and serve their neighbors confirmed the potential for a resident-led health community."

Kim Young-shin, director of the Health Promotion Division at Changwon Health Center, remarked, "The core achievement of this festival is that residents learned health knowledge and shared it with each other, caring for one another's health. We will continue to work with health clubs to expand participation opportunities for vulnerable groups and build a warm community care network."
