Girls' Generation member Taeyeon to sing Korean version of main theme song for 'Frozen 2'

SEOUL -- Girls' Generation member Taeyeon will sing the main theme song of "Frozen 2", the sequel of world-popular Disney animation "Frozen", the South Korean office of the American entertainment company said.

Walt Disney Company Korea said in a statement on Wednesday that the 20-year-old singer will sing the Korean version of "Into the Unknown End Credit Version", an alternate version of "Into the Unknown", the main theme song, specially edited for the end credit section of the film.

Frozen, a 2013 3D animation film directed by Chris Buck and Jenifer Lee, depicted a story inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale "The Snow Queen". The film was a global hit, earning $1.27 billion in worldwide box-office.

Taeyeon, who debuted in 2007 as a member of Girls' Generation, has actively pursued her career as a solo artist. The singer also honed her trait as an actress. She performed at "Midnight Sun", a musical, and also participated as a voice actress in the Korean dubbed version of Super Bad, a 2010 3D animation film.

The Girls' Generation member is currently dominating song charts of major South Korean music services such as Melon, Genie and Soribada with songs from her new album "Purpose", including the title track "Spark", released on Monday.
