Cellulose, is an important structural component of the primary cell wall of green plants, many forms of algae and the oomycetes. Cellulose is the most abundant organic polymer on Earth. The organic compound is mainly used to produce paperboard and paper. Smaller quantities are converted into a wide variety of derivative products.
Hansol Paper's technology and AmorePacific's know-how would be combined to develop eco-friendly packaging materials that complement the durability and preservation of paper packaging materials and have high strength and oxygen blocking capabilities. Hansol Paper has established a high-functioning cellulose production system.
"Cellulose processing technology is one of the new material technologies that are currently attracting attention in that it can be applied to all industries such as cosmetics, paint, electronics, polyurethane, and rubber, based on its non-toxicity and eco-friendly nature," said Hansol Paper CEO Han Cheol-gyu.
In February, Hansol unveiled an eco-friendly paper packaging material by recycling the by-product of cacao beans, which are discarded after being used as chocolate ingredients, in cooperation with Lotte Confectionary. Hansol processed cacao bean waste into powder and mixed them with recycled pulp to make an eco-friendly paperboard.
