On Thursday, the company’s board approved a plan to take over Essencore, a semiconductor module manufacturer, and SK Materials AirPlus Co., an industrial gas producer, through share exchanges with parent company SK Inc.
Essencore, headquartered in Hong Kong, manufactures and sells memory products globally, while SK Materials AirPlus produces industrial gases for the semiconductor industry.
SK Ecoplant anticipates synergies between its environmental and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) solutions businesses and the newly acquired subsidiaries. The company expects to leverage Essencore's capabilities in semiconductor recycling and SK Materials AirPlus' expertise in semiconductor-related EPC and carbon capture technologies.
"With these subsidiary incorporations, we expect to create multifaceted synergies not only in our environmental business but also in semiconductor infrastructure and related services," said an SK Ecoplant official.
"As both companies possess stable profit-generating capabilities and future growth potential, we also anticipate improvements in financial stability."
