The plant, to be located in Hill County, about 100 kilometers south of Dallas, will have an annual capacity of 492 gigawatt-hours, sufficient to supply electricity to about 46,000 U.S. households annually, the company said.
Hyundai Engineering acquired the project, dubbed "Project Hillsboro," from Texas-based OCI Energy.
The Korean firm plans to begin commercial operations in the first half of 2027 and is currently in talks with local engineering, procurement and construction companies for the construction.
"We are very pleased that we have successfully acquired our first solar project in the U.S. This marks a significant milestone for our company as we venture into the renewable energy sector," Kim Dong-joon, vice president of Hyundai Engineering, said in a press release.
Sabah Bayatli, president of OCI Energy, said, "This transaction not only signifies an important step in our ongoing commitment to advancing renewable energy in the U.S., it also serves as a platform for future collaboration between our respective companies."
