The heat pump system, which maintains 100 percent heating performance in temperatures as low as minus 25 degrees Celsius, was recognized by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) for its design and market impact.
LG Electronics has expanded its HVAC research network globally, establishing research facilities in Alaska, Oslo and Harbin, China.
The company uses R32 refrigerant, which has a 25 percent to 33 percent lower global warming potential than conventional R410A systems.
"LG Electronics has received recognition from ASHRAE for its innovative heat pump technology as an electrification solution to replace fossil fuels in the HVAC industry," said Steve Scarbrough, senior vice president leading HVAC innovation at LG Air Conditioning Technologies USA.
