SEOUL, December 12 (AJP) - Apple announced on Wednesday that it has integrated ChatGPT into its Siri voice assistant, expanding the AI capabilities of iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

The feature, first unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June, leverages the power of OpenAI’s GPT-4 model to provide more comprehensive and informative responses to complex queries.

With this update, Siri can now access and process information from the real world through Apple’s Knowledge Graph and generate more natural and engaging responses. Users can opt-in to this feature, allowing Siri to tap into ChatGPT’s vast knowledge base when appropriate.

The software update also introduces several other AI-powered features, including the ability to create custom emojis, generate images from text descriptions, and modify the style and tone of text. Apple plans to further enhance Siri’s capabilities next year, enabling it to perform specific tasks within apps, such as sending messages or controlling music playback.

The integration of ChatGPT into Siri is expected to boost iPhone sales and accelerate device upgrades. Investors believe that Apple could emerge as a major player in the consumer AI market, potentially challenging the dominance of other tech giants. Apple’s stock price reached an all-time high of $250 on Wednesday, valuing the company at $3.77 trillion.

In a separate development, Apple is reportedly working on its own AI server chip, codenamed “Baltra,” in collaboration with Broadcom. This chip, which is expected to be manufactured by TSMC using a 3-nanometer process, could reduce Apple’s reliance on Nvidia, a major supplier of AI chips.
