The equipment will be used in flood control efforts on the Labangan River on Mindoro, an island in the central Philippines. The island frequently faces flooding and river overflow issues due to heavy rainfall. It is scheduled to be delivered to the Philippines Department of Public Works and Highways by March.
The order consists of a total of 122 units, including 48 units of 21-ton excavators and 74 units of 22-ton excavators. This accounts for about 36 percent of the total sales the Korean firm achieved in the Philippines last year.
The 22-ton excavator, HX220HD, is known for its excellent torsional rigidity and shock absorption, ensuring stable performance even under heavy-load conditions, according to HD Hyundai Construction Equipment. The equipment's precision-controlled hydraulic system improves fuel efficiency and enhances work efficiency.
"We plan to use this order as a stepping stone to actively pursue investment and development projects following the May general elections in the Philippines, as well as infrastructure and resource development demands in Southeast Asia," said an official from HD Hyundai Construction Equipment.
Considering the Philippines' archipelagic geography, the company has placed sales offices on key islands in the country. It has also established a parts supply center in neighboring Indonesia to build a stable logistics supply chain.
