On June 16, the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment held the 49th meeting of the Humidifier Disinfectant Victim Compensation Committee near Seoul Station, where it reviewed 101 cases and approved compensation for 61 individuals along with their respective compensation levels.

The recent review included the approval of compensation for 26 newly recognized victims, as well as the establishment of compensation levels for 35 individuals whose harm had been acknowledged but not classified.

Among those recognized are four mothers who suffered stillbirths and miscarriages due to the disinfectant.

With this latest decision, the total number of individuals eligible for humidifier disinfectant compensation has risen to 6,037. There have been 8,086 total applicants, with 6,053 being eligible, including duplicates.

To date, the total amount of compensation and support provided has reached 216.5 billion won. This includes 89.6 billion won in special bereavement compensation, 78.3 billion won in living assistance allowances, and 24.2 billion won in care benefits.

A ministry official stated, "We plan to proceed with the follow-up procedures for compensation based on the committee's decisions today."
