Dabong Korea has begun construction on its first Paik Dabang store to support the self-sufficiency of families of South Korea's Special Mission Veterans.
On June 18, Dabong Korea held a groundbreaking ceremony for the 'Paik Dabang Yesan Lake' near Yesan Lake in South Chungcheong Province. The event was attended by Baek Jong-won, CEO of Dabong Korea, and Kim Yong-deok, President of the Special Mission Veterans Association, along with local officials.
This initiative is the first follow-up action to a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed in May between Dabong Korea and the Special Mission Veterans Association. The two parties agreed to support the stability and social participation of veterans' families, leading to this tangible construction just a month later.
The new store will serve as a 'Hope Startup' location, aimed at fostering economic independence for families of veterans. It will operate as a coexistence model, going beyond standard franchise operations to ensure that veterans' families can run the store sustainably. Dabong Korea will provide brand management expertise and training, while the local government will offer comprehensive administrative support for a smooth opening.
Yesan Lake, where the store will be located, is a prominent tourist destination in South Chungcheong Province, featuring attractions such as a suspension bridge, a musical fountain, an observation deck, and scenic walking paths. The Paik Dabang Yesan Lake is expected to open by the end of July, serving as a resting spot for tourists and contributing to the local economy.
Baek Jong-won stated, "The Paik Dabang Yesan Lake is the first example of our MOU translating into tangible results, and I hope it serves as a stepping stone for veterans' families to achieve stable self-sufficiency. We will continue to expand our ESG and social contribution activities to grow alongside the community, leveraging our expertise in the restaurant industry."
Previously, on May 7, Dabong Korea signed an MOU with the Special Mission Veterans Association at the Banpo Hangang Park, focusing on cooperative efforts for honoring and supporting veterans. The agreement outlined Dabong Korea's commitment to assist veterans and their families in starting businesses without capital, prioritizing locations with consistent demand unlike typical commercial areas.
