The European Central Bank (ECB) unveiled a new 10-euro banknote on Monday (local time), according to news reports.

The 10-euro note containing new security features will come into circulation from Sept. 23, the ECB said.

It includes a shine-through portrait image of the Greek mythological figure of Europa.

In May last year, the ECB released a new five-euro banknote, the first in a series of Europa banknotes.

The five-euro banknote, the lowest value euro note, has been used since the introduction of the euro in 2002.
