South Korean actor Song Kang-ho, who plays King Yeongjo (1694-1776) of Korea's Joseon Kingdom in historical film "The Throne," poses for a photo prior to an interview with The Aju Business Daily newspaper at a cafe in Palpan-dong, central Seoul. According to historical records, his own son, Crown Prince Sado, was locked in a rice chest for eight days by the order of his father, Yeongjo, before being starved to death. Sado is played by actor Yoo Ah-in.

"The Throne" topped the local box office on its opening day, Wednesday, by attracting a total of 250,252 viewers, according to the Korean Film Council, the country's official box-office tracker. Hollywood sci-fi action-thriller "Maze Runner: Scorch Trials" placed a distant second with 110,783 viewers.
