The hobby of growing a "pet plant" or adorning homes with various plants has become a trend among single households and young couples because plants need less care than animal pets.
Wemakeprice said in a statement on April 7 that the company launched a curated flower subscription service. Florists will create bouquets using different kinds of flowers such as roses, chrysanthemums, carnations, and lisianthus and send them to customers every two weeks. The subscription service costs around 13,000 won ($11.6) per delivery.
The online shopping service operator created the flower subscription service targeting customers who buy flowers to decorate their homes instead of going out. Pet plants and flower bouquets are favored by consumers who wish to upgrade the air quality of their homes.
Individual florists offer subscription services. However, Wemakeprice is the first major online retailer to launch a flower subscription service in South Korea. Other forms of subscription services including regular home deliveries of lunchbox meal sets and coffee drinks became popular in 2020.
