SEOUL -- At CES 2022, an annual trade show to be held in Las Vegas, Lotte Data Communication, an IT service management company based in South Korea, will showcase a metaverse platform that allows users to have realistic experiences.

The platform has been developed by Lotte Data Communication's subsidiary, Caliverse, which produces virtual reality content that enables two-way communication with users. Based on deep interactive technology that responds to touch, gaze, and voice, the company has produced VR dramas, concerts, and promotional videos.

By wearing head-mounted display devices, visitors can experience various real-world-like places including a movie theater and home appliance store. Using avatars, visitors can try on different clothing or inspect a home appliance from different angles. If visitors select a product, they can see a digital human wearing an item and rotating 360 degrees for closen inspection in any direction.

"This year's CES will be a starting point for Lotte Data Communication and Caliverse to move beyond the domestic market to become a global metaverse company," Lotte Data Communication CEO Noh Joon-hyung said in a statement on January 3.

The metaverse is a simulated virtual world platform that can be accessed through a PC or a VR headset and allows users to engage in various social and cultural activities without physical restrictions. Caliverse aims to implement a more realistic metaverse platform that shows products displayed in a shopping mall elaborately like real ones.
