SEOUL, August 12 (AJU PRESS) - Korean gaming company Krafton on Monday announced record sales and profits for the second quarter, driven by the success of its flagship title, “PUBG: Battlegrounds.”
Consolidated operating profit reached 332.1 billion won ($242 million), a 152.6 percent increase year-on-year, the company said in a regulatory filing.
Revenue jumped 82.7 percent to 707 billion won, while net profit soared 165.7 percent to 341.4 billion won.
Krafton attributed its growth to successful live services for PUBG across PC, console, and mobile platforms.
The game saw a 40 percent year-on-year increase in monthly active users (MAU) for its PC and console versions, while its mobile iterations gained traction through localized content and monetization strategies.
"Krafton has maintained solid growth in all areas, including sales and traffic, through various live services leveraging PUBG," the company said in its earnings report.
The firm is preparing to launch two new titles later this year – “Dark and Darker Mobile,” a dungeon-crawling rogue-like RPG, and “inZOI,” a life simulation game. Both games will be showcased at the upcoming international gaming fair Gamescom in Germany.
Krafton is also accelerating its investment strategy, having invested in 27 companies since 2021, primarily in North America and Europe. The company aims to diversify its portfolio across platforms and genres while expanding its artificial intelligence capabilities in game development.
