SEOUL, December 17 (AJP) -The Embassy of the Philippines in the Republic of Korea kicked off a special exhibition celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and the Philippines. The opening ceremony held in Insadong, a cultural hub in central Seoul, attracted dozens of distinguished guests.
The exhibition showcases various woven textiles from across the Philippines, highlighting the rich history of the country’s weaving culture. Featuring bold colors, intricate patterns, and locally sourced materials, the pieces reflect a harmony with nature and the craftsmanship passed down through generations.
Ambassador Dizon-De Vega reflected on the meaning of the exhibition, saying, “It is fitting that we present this exhibit here in Korea, a nation with its own proud traditions of weaving and textile art.”
She added that the exhibition aims to serve as a sustainable bridge between tradition and commerce. The embassy plans to introduce Philippine weaves to Korea’s designers and has also shared plans for another major fashion and textile event next year.
The exhibition runs until Saturday.
