LAS VEGAS, January 5 (AJP) - KCC Glass, a South Korean glass manufacturer, said Monday that it will unveil technology capable of adjusting transparency using electric currents at CES 2025 in Las Vegas.

At the four-day exhibition starting on Tuesday, the Korean firm will showcase its Variable Polarized Liquid Crystal (VPLC) technology. This innovation uses a transparent film attached to the glass, through which electric currents flow to control the transparency based on voltage. The technology offers energy-saving benefits by blocking sunlight and heat, while also providing privacy protection.

KCC Glass has collaborated with smart film solution company Difon to present the technology.

Unlike conventional methods that only allow toggling between transparency and opacity, VPLC technology allows for extremely fine adjustments in transparency. The glass can be set to a wide range of levels, providing more detailed control. Additionally, different sections of the same glass pane can have varying levels of transparency.

"VPLC has significant potential as a core technology for the future mobility and smart city construction industries," a KCC Glass official said. "Through CES 2025, we aim to showcase the VPLC technology we have developed with Difon over the past five years, demonstrating its value and competitiveness in the global market."
